Moses Witt Stamps, Jr., was born April 09, 1802 in Jackson Co.,GA. He married Sarah Freeman on Dec. 04, 1826 in Jackson Co. She wasborn in 1806t oDr. Thomas Freeman & Polly Beavers. Her sister, ElizabethFreeman, married Moses' brother, James Stamps. Dr. Freeman lost hisvision when thrown from his horse, but lived to be 91 years old. Whenth e 1830 census of Coweta County was taken, he and his wife wereunder 30 years old. They had two daughters both under 5 years. His health fai led earlyin life and the management of his plantation fell to his wife. Mosesdied April 1853. Sarah, his wife, was the executrix of his estate whichwas probated on May 04, 1853. According to the 186 0 census of CowetaCounty, Sarah Stamps, widow, was 54. Her children were: Martha E.,Willie and Christine Stamps. During the Civil War, Jacob Redwine, a wealthy planter from FultonCounty, GA, at Ben Hill, found his farms in the midst of the conflict.The Battle of Utoy Springs was fought near his home. He took his familyand slaves to his brother's farm in Coweta County, where he met SarahStamps. They were married on Jan. 31, 1865 in Coweta Co., GA. Theymoved to Ben Hill. Jacob Redwine is buried in Mount Gilead Church Yard near Ben Hill, by theside of his first wife.
