He was a captain and servedunder Stewart in No. 655 LaGrange district from Troup Co., GA.2 "Eason Stamps was married twice. First to Polly Watts and then toElizabeth Par ker. In the cemetery where he is buried, there are twograves by his side. One is Polly Watts and the other is their sonAlberton Stamps. ... Eason married Mary "Polly" Watts on Oct. 14, 1817inJacks on Co., GA.3 Indian Creek Baptist Church records show her amember of that church. She was the daughter of Benjamin Watts &Elizabeth Key. Benjamin was the son of Richard R. Watts."4 In 1959,Eason' s daughter, Sarah Powell, wrote that Eason married (1st)Miss McLenden, (2nd) Miss McCray, and, (3rd) Mary Elizabeth Parker, alsoknown as Mary Lemon Nicholas Parker. Mary Parker and Eason Stamps were married on March 20, 1859 by H.A.Ragan, J.P. Mary was the widow of David Parker. She was born Oct. 17,1820; died Oct. 02, 1902. She was buried next to David Parker in SmithChapel, a Methodist cemete ry, near Bowden, Carroll Co., GA. Eason died May 22, 1895; Carroll Co., GA. He was buried in the IndianCreek Cemetery near Bowden, Carroll Co., GA. His grave is between twoadult graves which have n o markers. He donated the land on which thechurch and the cemetery are located.
