In 1940 US census, Pauline Shaynkin is divorced, she's an inmate at a hospital, i.e. working there (we know she was a nurse from the 1930 census and it looks like her daugher Zena/Zina followed her and became a nurse too).
Born about 1896. She is 44 years old here.
The place is Kings Park State Hospital in Smithtown, Suffolk, New York
and she was there also in 1935
She was born in Russia and so were her parents
She only had one child ever. She was 20 years old when she married
Has not attended college yet.
Highest grade completed was 4th year in high school

According to SSDI, she was born May 1 1897 (I know it was May 1 1896) and she died Jan 1981, last residence being Kings Park, New York 11754, USA.
