Agnes McAliley Tuthill passed away on June 22, 2012 at the age of 91 at her residence in Naples, FL after a brief final illness.
She is survived by her husband, Howard S. Tuthill; three sons, and their wives, Howard S. Tuthill III (Wendy), William C. Tuthill (Barbara) and Walter C. Tuthill (Jantina); a daughter, Virginia T. Clifford; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Karissa, Kailey, Marieke, Aletta, Brendan, and Emma; and two great grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew.
Agnes was born in Baltimore, MD and grew up in Pelham Manor, NY. She was a 1942 graduate of Randolph Macon College and a skilled Librarian. During the Second World War she served at the U.S. Naval Air Station in San Diego while her husband served aboard an aircraft carrier in the Pacific. The family moved to Darien, Connecticut in 1950 where Agnes was active for fifty years in community affairs, including, the Noroton Presbyterian Church, The Darien Community Association, the Junior League, The Stamford Hospital, the Wee Burn Country Club, and a broad variety of social services. Agnes traveled extensively and visited every continent in the world in the course of her travels.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien, CT, 06820.
A Memorial Service will be conducted in the Chapel at the Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, CT, at 11:00 a.m. on July 14, 2012.
A reception at Wee Burn Country Club (Main Club) will follow the service.
