Princess Mary, eldest daughter of James II and previously wife of ThomasBoyd, Earl of Arran. [Burke's Peerage]

Thomas Boyd, by his father's influence, m. before 26 Apr 1467 to Mary,1st daughter of James II, and sister of the reigning monarch (then aminor) James III. The island of Arran, within the Sheriffdom of Bute,was given as her dower. . . he is said to have d. about 1473, atAntwerp. M.I. His wife, who was b. about 1450, m. 2ndly (certainlybefore Apr 1474, and probably in Feb or Mar 1473/4), as his 2nd wife, bythe King's wish, ("although her husband Thomas Boyd was neither dead nordivorced from her"), James Hamilton, 1st Lord Hamilton, who d. 12 Nov1479, and whose son by her was created, in 1503, Earl of Arran. She d.about May 1488. [Complete Peerage I:219-20, XIV:36]

He [James Hamilton] married, 2ndly, certainly before April 1474, andprobably in February or March 1473/4, the dispensation from the Pope(legitimatising the two children already born) not being obtained till 25April 1476, the Lady Mary STEWART, formerly wife of Thomas (BOYD), EARLOF ARRAN [SCT], sister of the then reigning JAMES III, being daughter ofJAMES II, by Mary, daughter of Arnold, DUKE OF GUELDRES. He died 6November 1479. His widow, the Princess, who was born [very shortly]before 16 May 1452 (a), died about May 1488. [Complete Peerage VI:254-6,(transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]

(a) Her brother James III was b. 10 Jul 1451, another child was b. and d.19 May 1450, the marriage of the parents having taken place 3 July 1449.
