Nothing is known yet about Alice Carter's origins other than her father's name "John Carter" given in NEHGR vol 75 on page 281 (Westhorpe parish register marriages, see sources). Since her maiden name was apparently Carter, presumably her marriage to John Cooke alias Carew on 8 May 1540 in Westhorpe, Suffolk was her first one so she may have been born about 1515.
