he must have been married very young to be a widower at the age of 24.

Per 1871 census Thomas (49) master cooper & his wife Ann (54) laundress lived at Crossway Green, Hartlebury, Worcs with their 3 children Thomas (24) cooper, Ann Elizabeth (22) & Georgina (17) both laundress's and also living with them was Emily Spragg (4) niece.

Thomas haddied by 1881 as the census states Ann was a widow, laundress aged 64 and she had her unmarried daughter Ann Elizabeth living at home with Elsie May Spragg, daughter of Ann Elizabeth aged 4 months.

Also living at the house was Emily Spragg a niece aged 14, a scholar born 1866, daughter of Sarah Spragg (sister to Thomas Spragg)
