Voor een veel volledigere genealogie van het geslacht Vermaas/Vermaes kan men te rade bij de publicaties van familieleden  Ernst "Esse" Vermaes, zaliger en Leo Dullaert.

Deze publicatie legt de nadruk op de nazaten van Aart en Sapinah. Daarvoor moesten wij Ignace en Paul Vermaes spitten in de archieven van het Nationaal Archief, het CBG en de Provinciale en Gemeente Archieven, het Rodekruis archief en het KNIL archief. Vele suggesties kregen we van ooms en tantes. Een neef Ed Tergau organiseerde familiereünies waar we tussenresultaten konden verspreiden laten corrigeren en aanvullen.

Het verzamelen van nog levende familieleden kan alleen in goed vertrouwen en via geboortekaartjes, overlijdensberichten en huwelijkaankondigingen.
