30 juli 1910: Walterus Martens rijdt met zijn fiets op de openbare grintweg van Steenbergen naar Halsteren. Onderweg wordt hij staande gehouden door veldwachter Ficke, die hem naar zijn rijkaart vraagt, waaruit moet blijken dat het verschuldigde weggeld (=vorm van belastingheffing op rijwielen) is betaald. Walterus kan deze kaart niet tonen en proces-verbaal wordt opgemaakt. De overtreding dient voor de rechtbank van Breda op 1 december 1910, welke hem schuldig verklaart en veroordeelt tot een boete van een gulden.
