14 december 1812: Voor de notaris compareren Henri Winkelman, gepensionneerd sergeant; Paul Kanters, smid; Jan Buhler, kleermaker; Henri van Venroij, slager; Adrien Martens, rentenier; Henri Haards, schoenmaker en Henri van Helvert, zadelmaker, allen wonende in Oosterhout. Op verzoek van Jan Pieter Broeders, landbouwer wonend in Steenhoven, verklaren zij dat zij zeer wel gekend hebben de heer Jan Bodeman, die tijdens zijn leven gepensionneerd soldaat was uit het Regiment Infanterie van Nieuwenheim in dienst van Holland en is overleden in het huis van genoemde Jan Pieter Broeders op 25 september 1812, waar hij jarenlang in pension gewoond heeft. De verklaring geeft mede aan dat de overledene nog een bedrag schuldig is van 159 guldens en 14 stuivers aan pensionkosten, geboortebewijs en bier.
