Bij de geboorten, huwelijk en overlijden van zijn kinderen wordt de familienaam door de ambtenaar geschreven als "Vermolen", maar hij ondertekent met "Vermole". Al zijn kinderen dragen de familienaam "Vermolen". Hij trekt kennelijk nauw op met zijn broer Mattheus. Zij zijn meerdere malen bij elkaar getuige bij geboorte of overlijden. Ook zijn boer ondertekent de akte met "Vermole". Bij zijn overlijden in 1901 wordt in de overlijdensakte zijn familienaam geschreven als "Vermolen".
