Hij was drapenier en wollenlakenkoper (en -smokkelaar), ook koopman in lijnwaad, trouwde te ’s-Hertogenbosch op 3 juli 1604 met Katelijn Jans de Quade van Ravensteyn, dochter van Jan Everaerts van Ravensteyn en Adriana Boudewijn Suerinx, weduwe van de laken- en hopkoper Peter Willems Adriaens van Heeswijck. De laatste woonde naest het sinloosen huijs en was rector van het gasthuis van Reinier van Arkel voor geesteszieken, welke functie Baltazar (Baltus) in 1608 e.v. waarnam. Bovendien was Baltus in 1624–1626 weesmeester en sinds 1624 rentmeester van het Hamersgasthuis, tot hij in 1629 overleed. In 1618 was hij blokmeester van de huisarmen van het Hinthamereind en in 1625 en 1626 meester van de arme wezen van Den Bosch. In 1629 is hij overleden. Van het ambachtsgilde der droogscheerders was hij sinds 1606 herhaaldelijk deken, gezworene, keurmeester, komzegelaar en raamzegelaar.
