Huijbert Claes Donckers Gielens was onmondig in 1558–1562 en trad niet lang daarna in het huwelijk met Neesken Aert Claessen die Cock alias Belmaeckers, bij wie hij een dochter won. Neesken was een dochter van Marijken Willem Henricx, die een huis bezat in de Korte Putstraat, – en de priester Philips Laurens was haar oudere halfbroer; van Aert Claess Bellemaeckers werd tegen 1564 zijn koopmanschap van zilver in beslag genomen, wat misschien een aanwijzing is voor zijn kostwinning.
Ook Huijbert Donckers heeft blijkbaar deel gehad aan de gereformeerde machtsgreep te ’s-Hertogenbosch in 1566. In elk geval was de schrik hem in de benen geslagen, want hij droeg in april 1567 al zijn bezittingen over aan zijn schoonmoeder Maria, weduwe van Aert Claess die Cock, zodat de koning geen beslag meer kon leggen op zijn bezittingen. In 1570 wordt hij de eigenaar genoemd van een ledich huys in de Kolperstraat – geërfd van zijn vader – met een huurwaarde van f 16 per jaar.
