Landbouer Bartholomeusklip, Drakenstein. In 1727 as diaken van die gemeente Drakenstein voorgestel. In 1739, nadat Gideon oorlede is, het sy weduwee as gevolg van armoede, die Politieke Raad om uitstel vir die betaling van huurgeld gevra. Dit word afgelei dat hy ook nie 'n suksesvolle boer was nie.

Die plaas is daarna as weidingsplaas op huurpag vir wisselende tydperke aan Francois Joubert en Jan du Buiszon toegeken. Op 26.1.1759 het die broers Willem en Gideon Joubert die plaas as 'veepost en eigendomsplaats� bekom. In 1850 was Johannes J.C. Blignaut die eienaar. Die plaas was volgens gegewens nooit in die besit van die du Plessis-familie nie maar, gedagte aan die lang tydperk wat hulle daar gewoon het, vermoediglik deur Jan Gabriel (f1) bestuur namens familie of om �n deel geboer soos dit destyds algemeen die geval was. Die plaas was vir baie jare in besit van �n deVilliers-familie.
