Pieter van der Stoop, geb. Harenkarspel 9.8.1909, overl. 19.11.1994, kwam in 1940 van
Uitermeer naar Breukelen om als boerenarbeider bij Gert van Hienen aan het Zandpad
te gaan werken. Hij zou in een van diens huizen in de Koekenbuurt gaan wonen, maa r
het huis in de Dannestraat leek hem beter en dat kon hij voor ƒ 1,75 in de week van Van
Stam huren. Later huurde hij ook de andere twee huizen en de zolder van de achterliggende
schuur als opslagplaats voor de lompen en metalen, waarin hij na 1941 handelde.
Omstreeks de kerst slachtte hij er tientallen konijnen en een enkele poes. Voor de
laatste had hij een vaste afnemer in een chauffeur uit Maarssen. In 1945 volgde Van der

Stoop Tinus de Wit op als schillenboer. Tot 1974 haalde hij in het dorp aardappelschillen
en oud brood op. Hij bracht die voor 4 cent per kilo als veevoer naa r zijn afnemers Niek
Schoonderwoerd, Co van Oort en tenslotte Dirk Korver in Otterspoorbroek. Tientallen
kinderen hebben op de bok van zijn wagentje mogen meerijden door de strate n van
Breukelen. Toen in 1975 zijn paard Vosje doodging, beëindigde Van der Stoop zijn lompenhandel.
