In het Ondertrouwboek Groningen 1776-1783, folio 117v wordt op zaterdag 12 december 1778 het voorgenomen huwelijk geregistreerd van Jurjen Voorsmidt, van Groningen, soldaat in de compagnie van de luitenant-kolonel Ulrich Willem Polman Gruys in ’t bataillon Orange Stad en Lande, met Trijntje Christophers, van Groningen. De registratie wordt gedaan door Barent Jacobs als stiefvader, die op 6 december 1763 getrouwd is met haar moeder Petertje Freriks.
Trijntjen is geboren aan de Prinsenstraat en gedoopt op 18 juni 1755 in de A-kerk in Groningen. Vermeld wordt dat zij de dochter is van Christoffer Ruibes en Pietertjen Frerix en in onecht is geboren.

Van Jurjen en Trijntje zijn vijf kinderen bekend:
1.Jurjen Jurjens Voorsmit, geboren aan de Prinsenstraat en gedoopt op dinsdag 18 mei 1779 in de Martinikerk in Groningen. Hij is overleden voor 1788 in Groningen .
2.Pietertijn Jurjens Voorsmit, geboren aan de Prinsenstraat en gedoopt op vrijdag 4 maart 1785 in de Martinikerk in Groningen. Zij overlijdt op 3 september 1861 in Groningen. Pietertijn is diensmeid als zij op 20 april 1816 in Groningen trouwt met Henderikus Hemmes, van beroep wijnkoper. Bij dit huwelijk wordt bij de vader van de bruid vermeld dat hij knegt van de geweldige is geweest. Pietertijn is van beroep grossiersche als zij voor de tweede keer trouwt in Groningen op 22 november 1823 met Jan Jurjens Reinders, die stelmaker van beroep is. Bij haar vader wordt dan vermeld dat hij schoenmaker was.
3.Jurjen Jurjens Voorsmit, geboren aan de Prinsenstraat en gedoopt op dinsdag 11 maart 1788 in de Martinikerk in Groningen. Jurjen was gehuwd met Annechien Jansen. Annechien is geboren rond 1790.
4.Annegin Jurjens Voorsmit, geboren aan de Hofstraat en gedoopt op zondag 26 september 1790 in de Martinikerk in Groningen.
5.Berendina Jurjens Voorsmit, geboren aan de Hofstraat en gedoopt op vrijdag 30 september 1791 in de Martinikerk in Groningen. Zij is overleden op 18 december 1868 in Groningen. Berendina is van beroep naaister als zij trouwt op 4 september 1814 in Groningen met Josef Jacobus Vonderman, van beroep mandemaker. Hij is geboren in 1793 aan de Lamme Huningestraat en gedoopt op 23 januari 1793 in de A-kerk in Groningen als zoon van Josef Vonderman en Hindrina de Winter en overleden op 23 september 1856 in Groningen.
