In 1928 treedt Joseph, wegens zijn vertrek naar Parijs, af als directeur van de Naamloze Vennootschap Gebrs. Van den Bergh's Industrie- en Handelmaatschappij.
Mogelijk is het verblijf van Joop in Parijs van korte duur geweest, want neef Herman schrijft in zijn boek dat Joop als directeur op het bedrijf in Oss werkte.
