Leonard Franciscus Marie stond in Alphen a/d Rijn en omgeving bekend als een zeer goede zanger, de toenmalige Deken van Alphen heeft hem eens de toegang tot de kerk ontzegd, na een optreden als zangsolist in de N.H.kerk. In de oorlogsjaren zat hij bij het verzet. Hij werd in de oorlogswinter op 11-12-1944 in Alphen a/d Rijn, bij het halen van aardappelen door een ongeduldigde "landwachter" doodgeschoten. Zijn vrouw bleef achter met vier kleine kinderen en is korte tijd later bevallen van een tweeling. Deze tweeling is na 20 dagen overleden.
