Marlin Ernest "Ernie" Swygman, 75, of Janesville, died on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at the Waverly Health Center, Waverly.
Marlin was born on March 17, 1940, in Charles City, the son of Dick and Martha (Freerks) Swygman. He attended Janesville Consolidated Schools. He was united in marriage to Judith Holthaus on Sept. 7, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. He worked at Chamberlain manufacturing, and John Deere. He retired in May of 1996 from John Deere after 30 years. He was a member of the UAW and served in the National Guard. He enjoyed woodworking, antique tractors and equipment. Marlin was an avid outdoorsmen and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating and riding his ATV.
Marlin is survived by his wife, Judy Swygman, of Janesville; a daughter, Andrea (David) Parrott, of Flower Mound, Texas; two sons, Mike (Tara) Swygman, of Aurora, Colo., and Ryan (Suzette) Swygman, of Palisade, Colo.; and six grandchildren, Samantha Parrott, Mackenzie Swygman, Rylee Swygman, Adriana Swygman, Allyson Swygman, and Amelia Swygman. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Dennis and Steven Swygman
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly with the Rev. David Schatz officiating. Burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for an hour before services on Thursday at the church.
