Op 20 juni 1908 is voor notaris te Assen, Diederik Anne Marie de Fremery, een akte opgemaakt waarin zijn vader verklaarde dat hij toestemming gaf voor het aangaan van dit huwelijk. Tevens blijkt uit deze akte dat de burgemeester van Amsterdam op 23 mei en de burgemeester van Norg op 20 juni 1908 verklaringen hebben afgegeven van het onvermogen van zowel de vader als de zoon.
Voor Maartje Coerse is ook een gerechtelijke uitspraak gegeven voor toestemming van het huwelijk omdat haar vader die niet wilde geven. Zie de minuten ter griffie van het tweede kanton, Arondissement Amsterdam dd 15 april 1908, rechter Mr. Anthonie Johannes Carsten. De vader was via een deurwaarder opgeroepen om te verschijnen maar heeft verstek laten gaan.
