    In "De Wolkenridder" het KLM blad verscheen op 13 november 1954 het navolgende bericht:
    Op dinsdag 9 november is na een langdurig ziekbed toch nog onverwachts overleden de heer A.W.Steenhof werkmeester van de Convair-inspectie. Hij was op 27-4-1937 bij de K.L.M. in dienst gekomen en werd op de Waalhaven tewerk gesteld als electriciën. Door zijn grote ijver en vakmanschap was hij één der eersten, die naar Schiphol overgeplaatst werden en is van electriciën opgeklommen tot de functie van werkmeester. Na de oorlog heeft hij ook al zijn krachten gegeven voor de wederopbouw van de K.L.M. Dat hij waardering voor zijn werk vond, blijkt uit het feit dat hij tweemaal naar Californië voor de K.L.M. gestuurd werd voor de overname van Convair vliegtuigen. Hij is door zijn persoonljkheid en optreden een voorbeeld geweest voor velen.
    Toen zijn heengaan op Schiphol bekend werd, was de verslagenheid groot. Ons aller deelneming gaat uit naar zijn vrouw, kinderen en ouders, voor wie dit een ontzettend verlies is. Wij allen hopen, dat zij de kracht mogen vinden over dit leed heen te komen. Wij zullen hem nog lang missen. Hij ruste in vrede.
