In this publication I have gratefully made use of various sources. One more important than the other. Without the contribution of the publication of the Westfriesgenootschap Singer 1973 ir. C. Stapel and the websites of MyHeritage, Openachieven, Familysearch, National Archives Curacao, National Archives The Hague, Noorhollandsarchief, Historical Archives Overijssel, Kistenmaker, Wieiswie, Westfriesefamilies, Westfriesarchief, Westfriesgenootschap, Online cemeteries, Google, Wikitree, Wikipedia, I wouldn't have gotten that far. My sincere thanks for this. With this contribution I hope to discover further information about the Singer family and relatives and to encourage others to investigate this further. The oldest known Singer, Cornelis Claasz, originally came from Broek op Langedijk, possibly from a family of schoolmasters. Whether the name Singer is derived from his profession as a schoolmaster and cantor in the church is unknown. Descendants who settled in Venhuizen suddenly received the name Zinger due to a registration error. The Singer family could be called a genuine West Frisian family who mainly lived in and around Andijk. To distinguish them, they were given nicknames that were often passed on from father to son, such as "Pukke", Trommeltje", "Prop", "Koet", "Pankoek", "Torrel", "Kriel", "Bolle".
