He was beloved husband of 53 years to Shirley Cortese Bourgeois, father of the late Shirleen Michel, grandfather of Norbert, Keith and Vickie Michel and great grandfather of Hunter Michel. He is survived by his sister, Lorraine B. Klann and several nieces and nephews. Born in New Orleans, he was a resident of Destrehan since 1995. N. J. was a graduate of Warren Easton High School. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Navy and served his country during World War II. He retired from Donovan Marine in 1996 after 40 years with the company. A man of faith, N. J. was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Charles Borromeo Church and a member of the Men of Manresa. In 2009 he was awarded the Order of St. Louis Medal by the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 13396 River Road, Destrehan, LA, with funeral services immediately following. The burial service will be at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum , 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Men of Manresa.
