Boele Jans Pottjewijd vestigde zich ± 1880 aan de huidige Burg. Wichersstraat, als fotograaf in Winschoten.
Hij fotografeerde Winschoten van ± 1885 tot ± 1900 en als Hoffotograaf (31 augustus 1901) legde hij zich toe op fotograferen van familieportretten en schoolfoto’s.
