KERK EN SCHOOL, BENOEMINGEN ENZ
40 JAAR ONDERWIJZER
De heer J. Pottjewijd, hoofd van de bijzondere U.L.O.-school te Koudum, herdacht heden den dag waarop hij voor 40 jaar zijn loopbaan bij het bijzonder onderwijs aanving.
Na de H.B S. te Winschoten te hebben doorloopen bezocht de heer Pottjewijd voor zijn opleiding tot onderwijzer verschillende Normaalscholen in de omgeving van Winschoten.
1 December 1900 ving hij zijn loopbaan als onderwijzer te Kampen aan. Hierna is hij als onderwijzer aan de Chr U L.O.-school te Amersfoort werkzaam geweest tot 1908.
In laatstgenoemd jaar werd hij hoofd van de Chr. school te Kapelle (Z.)
In 1924 volgde zijn benoeming tot hoofd der U.L.O -school te Koudum.
Tijdens zijn verblijf te Kapelle was hij directeur van de Norrnaallessen te Goes.
Buiten de school deed de heer Pottjewijd zich kennen als een goed musicus en een verdienstelijk kunstschilder.
Menig koor heeft hij gedirigeerd.
Thans is hij nog organist aan de Geref. Kerk te Koudum.

In 1921 werd te Koudum een christelijke ULO-school geopend in hetzelfde gebouw van de
lagere school. Het eerste hoofd van deze school was blijkbaar A.H. van Dijk, die ook de
scepter zwaaide over de lagere school.Op 1 sept. 1925 kwam J. Pottjewijd uit Kapelle (Zuid-Beveland). Hij ging op 1 aug. 1941 met pensioen en werd toen opgevolgd door J. Slager, onderwijzer te Assen.
