Notes about Cornelis "Cor" Luberti

Eind negentiger jaren komt tante Jo, de 4 jaar oudere zuster van mijn vader bij mijn moeder op verjaarsvisite. Ze vertelde over vroeger. Mijn opa en oma waren erg arm, er waren 9 kinderen, maar mijn tante heeft dat niet als een gemis ervaren. Ze heeft een fijne jeugd gehad met veel broers en zusters om mee te spelen en veel warmte en gezelligheid. Mijn opa, waar ik dol op was, speelde en knutselde veel met de kinderen, maar hij had ook veel voor ze over.
De kinderen hadden een soort bolderkar met massieve banden. Als die versleten waren, dan ging mijn opa op de fiets kijken of er ergens geasfalteerd werd en dan ging hij er met de bolderkar heen en reed over het asfalt zodat er wat op de banden kwam, dan konden ze weer even mee.
Elke zaterdag kreeg mijn opa zijn geld, maar soms was er op vrijdag geen geld meer om voor 2 centen zout te kopen. Dan spoelde mijn oma de zoutpot om zodat de aardappels nog ergens naar smaakten. Soms hadden ze een kat. Een heette Japie, die liep elke morgen met mijn opa mee tot de hoek van de straat als hij naar zijn werk ging. In de kamer waren kokoslopers en omdat er geen stof zuiger was, moest mijn tante samen met haar zus Mia, die 2 jaar jonger was ’s avonds de draadjes van de lopers halen. Tante Mia had daar niet zo’n zin in en verdween dan altijd met een smoesje. Dan mocht mijn vader uit bed komen om te helpen. Dat vond hij leuk, want daarna haalde mijn oma koeken bij de bakker en kregen ze een kopje koffie. Dit laatste verhaal ontroerde me heel erg. Mijn tante sprak met liefde over mijn vader en zei dat het altijd een zachte behulpzame jongen was, die goed met iedereen kon opschieten en veel met zijn broers optrok.
