Notes about Johan Caspar PARAVISINI DI CAPELLI


Paravicini was een lid van de familie Paravicini di Capelli en een zoon van generaal-majoor Bartholomeus Edouard Paravicini di Capelli (1724-1810) en Josina de Fumal (gedoopt 1730). Hij trouwde in 1775 met Johanna Christophelina Jacoba van Heemskerck (1759-1824); uit dit huwelijk werd generaal-majoor Willem Bartholomé Eduard Paravicini di Capelli (1778-1848) geboren.

Paravicini di Capelli werd op 10 juli 1769 benoemd tot onderluitenant bij zijn vaders compagnie. Op 30 september 1774 werd hij bevorderd tot 1e luitenant en op 27 augustus 1781 benoemd tot kapitein-luitenant. Hij werd op 18 november 1787 bevorderd tot kapitein en op 22 februari 1793 benoemd tot majoor. Datzelfde jaar, op 25 juni 1793, werd hij benoemd tot adjunct-inspecteur der Nederlandse magazijnen en geschutgieterij. Op 8 juli 1795 werd hij benoemd tot luitenant kolonel en inspecteur-generaal der magazijnen. Hij werd op 18 juli 1803 bevorderd tot kolonel en benoemd tot chef der artillerie; op 25 oktober 1806 werd hij door koning Lodewijk bevorderd tot generaal-majoor en in zijn betrekking als chef der artillerie vervangen door de Franse kolonel M.J. Demarçay. In september 1805 was hij geplaatst bij de bevelhebber der artillerie van het noorderleger, generaal Dronas, en bekleedde aldaar de rang van inspecteur-generaal der artillerie tot 1807.
Na een periode van nonactiviteit van enige maanden werd Paravicini di Capelli, bij de reorganisatie van het Department van Marine en Koloniën, op 21 mei 1809 benoemd tot lid der eerste sectie van het Centraal Comité der artillerie en genie maar kort daarop gepensioneerd (1809). Hij was minder Oranjegezind dan zijn vader was geweest.
