Notes about Howard Bliss SCHOLTEN

Ordained in the Reformed Church in 1930, after the war served in the Episcopal Church, California. Episcopal priest and former chaplain (lieutenant colonel). He graduated from Hope College and Western Theological Seminary, both in Holland, Mich. and was ordained in 1949 at Grace Cathedral. His final post prior to retirement in 1967 was at Hamilton, where he served four years as Protestant chaplain. During World War II, he had served in North Africa, Alaska and Iran. After closing his 20-year military career, he went on to become chaplain at San Rafael Military Academy for three years before assuming duties as interim pastor at St. Francis of Assisi parish in Novato from 1971 to 1972.
