    Alhoewel tante Mina, haar zus, altijd thuis is blijven wonen en in eerste instantie voor haar oudesr zorgden, nam tante Jo die zorg over naarmate tante Mina zieker werd. Ze had een longziekte en kon tijdens de oorlogsjaren niet goed behandeldworden. Tante Jo zorgde dus ook voor haar.
    Tante Jo en oom Willem woonden in de van Manderestraat 5 te Vlissingen alwaar opoe en opa de Nooijer later ook zijn gaan wonen. Tante Mina overleed kort na de oorlog, ze werd nog geopereerd maar was te zwak en overleed een paar dagen later in Utrecht.
