Jan Frederik van Burmania, gedoopt Hallum 9 jun 1700, overleden 5 mei 1768.
Hij was generaal-majoor.

BURMANIA (Jan Frederik van), geb. 1700, overl. te Sas van Gent 1 Mei 1768, zoon van Sjuck, en van Jeepk Douma.
Hij trad in militairen dienst, lag in 1730 eenigen tijd als majoor (plaatsmajoor) binnen Sas van Gent, werd 19 Sept. 1742 luitenant-kolonel bij het infanterie-regiment Glinstra en werd 1 Jan. 1748 kolonel der infanterie. Nadat de fransche bezetting 29 Jan. 1749 Sas v. Gent had verlaten, kwam v. Burmania als commandeur aldaar, ter vervanging van den in krijgsgevangenschapgeraakten F. van Nispen. Na 14 Maart 1766 bevorderd te zijn tot generaal-majoor, overleed hij twee jaar later te S.v.G. Een prachtig wapenbord van dezen commandeur verbrandde met de kerk in 1896. Hij werd als commandeur te Sas van Gent vervangen door zijn broeder Duco Martena v.B.
