Notes about Geertruida Koomen

Geertje kwam uit een arm gezin.
Geertje droeg in 1903 nog een Zuidhollandse muts, (net even anders dan de Volendamse muts).
Zij had 2 x verkering, maar deze jongens overleden.
De moeder van Geertje , Elisabeth Koomen-Koop woonde eerder op Ruigoord, in de Houtrakpolder, bij het kerkje op de hoek, met een tuintje met goudsbloemen.
Het was 2 uur lopen vanaf dochter Geertje bij de Hembrug, de hele IJpolder door, 't pontje over, en dan nog een eind over de dijk tot Halfweg, aan de Middenweg naar beneden naar het Kerkje.
Geertje woonde de laatste jaren in het kleine huisje naast boerderij "Het Huys te Oostwijck".
(Hier woonde later haar kleinzoon Theo Kaandorp met zijn gezin)
