Edske Foppes (1915) schrijft omstreeks 1987: JAN WESTERBEEK , de broer van JOKE, knappe, sportieve, muzikale en schrandere jongen werd vrouwenarts in Woerden. Hij is getrouwd met BETTY BIJKERK uit Steenwijk. Zij kregen twee zonen ,HAN en GERARD, die ondanks alle pogingen om hen thuis aan het werk te zetten (vogels fokken etc.) uiteindelijk beiden in een psychiatrische inrichting zijn beland. Betty kon de moeilijkheden die haar pad kruisten, bv. het sneuvelen van haar lievelingsbroer HANNY aan het Oostfront (Rusland), het N.S.B.erschap van haar familie en het omgaan met haar geestelijk gehandicapte kinderen niet aan en is jarenlang in een tehuis verpleegd.Toen de verpleegkosten niet meer uit de A.W.B.Z. worden vergoed moest Jan de kosten daarvoor zelf opbrengen. Inmiddels gepensionneerd gaf hijpecuniae causa les aan drie ziekenhuizen. Zijn vriendin MINEKE werkte hele dagen als tandarts assistente. La vie est dure! Uiteindelijk is Jan bij Mineke weggegaan en woont hij nu in de bekende flat Nieuw Beerschoten in Zeist Betty is overleden in 1987 en Jan trekt nu veel op met zijn nichtje MIELTJE.
