Edske Foppes (1915) schrijft over zijn "tante": JO geb. 26-12 1887, was getrouwd met de wiskundeleraar GERARD WESTERBEEK (geh. 22 Okt 1903). Van alle zusjes Lonsain heeft alleen Jo, die in Utrecht aan de Jan van Scorelstraat en later aan de Prins Hendriklaan woonde met haar GERARD WESTERBEEK (oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit Kollum) een normaal huwelijk gehad, waaruit twee kinderen werden geboren, t.w. JAN, evenals ik, geboren in 1915 (20/6) en JOKE (11-2-1920).
Corrie Foppes-Arendz (1923) voegt hier aan toe: Beide ouders Westerbeek waren onderwijzer. Wie in die tijd mocht doorleren voor hetzij ambtenaar of onderwijzer, behoorde tot het intelligente deel van de schoolgaande jeugd. Tegenwoordig zouden ze universitair onderwijs hebben gevolgd. Het betekende dat er toen een onderwijzersstand ,beginnend bij het onderwijs aan de lagere scholen, ontstond die, veelal ook maatschappelijk geengageerd (de z.g. “rooie” onderwijzers die op een hoog peil hebben les gegeven .Door zelfstudie brachten velen het tot een hoger plan. En van dat slag was Gerard Westerbeek er een. D.w.z.:hij was een voortreffelijk onderwijzer, van zijn politieke voorkeur weet ik niets. Hij eindigde zijn carriere als Directeur (Rector) van een H.B.S. in Utrecht. Flinke en ook aardige man! We waren met de drie kinderen op zijn crematie in Dieren, voor de kinderen hun eerste confrontatie met een dergelijk instituut.
