Notes about Catharina Verbeeck

Voornaam ook gespeld als CATHARIJN. Catharina hertrouwt op 15-8-1773 te Kruisland met Jan van Bregt (ook genoemd VAN BRAACK), die zelf al weduwnaar is van Maria van Turnhoudt. Dan wordt ook aangegeven dat ze geboren is en nog steeds woont te Kruisland. Verder is er weinig 'harde' informatie over Catharina te vinden in de archieven. Zo zijn er bijvoorbeeld al drie mogelijke ouders in de archieven van Steenbergen. Op 23 februari 1721 wordt een Catharina Verbeeck gedoopt, kind van Laurentius Verbeeck en Maria Joannes Raets. Op 4 november 1722 is er wederom een doop, nu van de dochter van Guielmus Guielmusse Verbeeck en Cornelia Klijne. En tenslotte wordt op 20 februari 1723 nogmaals een Catharina gedoopt, een kind van Guielmus A. Verbeeck en Cornelia Dome. Echter, in die periode vallen de polders van Kruisland niet alleen onder Steenbergen, maar gedeeltelijk ook onder Wouw. En daar wordt in het buurtschap Biezen (juist ten zuiden van Kruisland) op 7 augustus 1729 ook een Catharina geboren, dochter van Wilhelmus Verbeeck en Maria van Achtmael. Getuigen zijn Johannes Verbeeck en Margaretha Lanen. Dit is de meest waarschijnlijke voorouder, gezien haar geboortedatum, woonplaats en de naamgeving van haar dochter, die vernoemd is, zoals gebruikelijk in die tijd, naar de moeder van Catharina.
