Hij stond bij Haeghedoorn bij een koppel paarden.
Martha keek in tranen op haar horloge "waar blijft hij toch. als hij straks niet komt kan hij wegblijven!"
Om 10 u is Robert de fiets opgesprongen en heeft de bruidegom gevonden terwijl hij met Haeghedoorn stond te praten bij de paarden.
Hij had wel al een strikje omgedaan.
Om 10 u 30' (dus vermoedelijk een half uur na geplande aanvang van de ceremonie) kwam hij aan de kerk aan waar drie pastoors stonden te wachten."

By order of April 13 1915 of Ortskommandant Major Prasse every inhabitant has to clean the sidewalk in front of his house and half the street till the midline starting at 6 a.m. German time. Trash has to be massed at the border of the sidewalk where it would be collected. Trespassers would be fined a 50 German mark fine or 10 days in prison
