Notes about Gerardus "Gerry" Dijst

Op 11 mei 1942 werd Gerardus op transport gesteld voor de tewerkstelling in Duitsland. Hij werd tewerk gesteld bij Atlaswerke in Duistland. In verband met zijn tewerkstelling in Duitsland heeft Gerardus op 7 mei 1942 een paspoort moeten aanvragen.
30-01-1953 met het schip Johan van Oldenbarnevelt geëmigreerd naar Australië met vrouw en twee dochters.
In 1984 werd de eerste rechtstreekse KLM-vlucht uit 1934 van Amsterdam naar Melbourne (Australië) met de Uiver herhaald met de gerenoveerde oude Uiver. De Telegraaf van 6 februari 1984 kwam met een uitgebreide reportage van Wim Kroese. Naast een beschrijving over de tocht, bemanning, beschrijft hij ook de ontvangst van de bemanning van de gerenoveerde Uiver in 1984 op de burgerluchthaven Essendon. Vele mensen juichten de bemanning toe en verwelkomden de bemanning. Wim Kroese schreef daarbij:
"....Mensen zoals Gerrardus en Froukje Dyst die in 1934 op het Museumplein te Amsterdam hebben gestaan toen de Uiverploeg van Parmentier werd ingehaald. Zij bekennen, ......., dat zij van de ontvangst die de Uiverbemanning ten deel valt, een brok in hun keel krijgen..........."
In Australië wordt de familienaam geschreven als "Dyst".
