Waar Christien precies geboren is, is niet meer vast te stellen. Haar ouders woonden op een woonschuit. Deze schuit stond in het bevolkingsregister van de gemeente Ambt Hardenberg geregistreerd in Bergentheim zonder nader adres van de ligplaats, maar lag in werkelijkheid in november 1902 waarschijnlijk ergens tussen Bergentheim en Sibculo, daar waar vader Jan op dat moment aan het werk was. Vandaar het verschil tussen de administratieve ligplaats en de opgegeven geboorteplaats van Christien. De geboorteaangifte door de vader vond plaats op 5 november 1902. Als getuigen had Jan zijn vader Hendrik Gort (28) en zijn schoonvader Pieter Schonewille (30) meegebracht.
