Piet is op 10 maart 1945 op het algemeen kerkhof in Bettenhousen. Een RK Priester uit Bettenhousen verrichte de begravenis.
Verzoek tot herbegraven is begonnen in 1950. De Burgemeester van Bovenkarspel heeft daarbij geholpen. Gezien de brieven correspondentie.
Piet is op 7-9-1951 herbegraven in Bovenkarspel, RK kerkhof Parochie St Martinus, de familie mocht echter geen steen plaatsen bij het graf omdat de rest van de graven uit houten kruizen bestond. Huurgraf voor een tijd van 15 jaar.
Piet was blond en had blauw/grijze ogen.

Notes about Petrus Jozef (Piet) Ooteman
Piet is gefusilleerd, hij had tijdens een bombardement in Kassel, iets gestolen uit een treinwagon. Op diefstal stond de doodstraf. Deze informatie heb ik ontvangen van Jan Dekker. Zijn vader, Jan Dekker en Piet Onneweer hadden zich samen met Piet Ooteman, allen uit Bovenkarspel, aangemeld voor de Arbeidseinsatz (met zwaar tegenzin, dwangarbeid). Zo kwamen zij in Kassel terecht. Piet Onneweer kwam tijdens een bombardement op het spoorweg emplacement te Kassel om het leven. Alleen Jan Dekker heeft het overleefd. Woonde in Bovenkarspel. Zoon van slager Willem oteman en Marijtje Roozendaal. ongehuwd. BAkker. Rooms-Katholiek. Ooteman verbleef door de verplichte tewerkstelling in Duitland. Na een geallieerd bombardement op Kassel moest hij puinruimen. Onder een hoop puin vond hij een pak vermicelli. Omdat hij trek in eten had, behield hij het voor zichzelf. Dat werd gezien door een nazi-voorman, die hem zonder enigerlei vorm van proces wegens 'plundering' ter plekke door het hoofd schoot. Zijn kameradenwilden het lijk weghalen, maar dat werd niet toegestaan. Zij moesten toezien hoe hem een bord werd omgehangen waarop het woord 'MISDAAD' stond vermeld. Ter afschrikking bleef zijn stoffelijk overschot een etmaal lang op de plaats liggen waar hij was doodgeschoten.
Een gezongen uitvaartdienst voor Piet is op vrijdag 1 juni 1945 om 09.30 uur gehouden in de Sint Martinus parochiekerk in Bovenkarspel. Hij werd op de begraafplaats van dezelfde kerk begraven. Het graf is inmiddels geruimd.

in 1940 en 1941 kom ik een scheidsrechter tegen: P.J. Ooteman. Dat kan Piet zijn geweest. zijn broer Jan heeft ook vele voetbalwedstrijden geleid (in Purmerend).
