Anna TenBosch DeJong
;th="3" height="13" />
Family records show Anna being born in 1858; however, her stone shows 1857. Anna's parents, Nicholas and Elbertje Van Domselaar Ten Bosch, took their six children and left the Netherlands for America in 1864 when Anna was about 7 years old. Three brothers - Peter (5 yo), Jacob (3 yo) and Willem (1 yo) died on the journey. This was a real blow to the family as they were the only boys. They traveled to Pella IA where Anna met Pieter DeJong. They were married April 28, 1881 by Rev Francis Rederus, pastor of the Third Reformed Church in Pella IA. They had five children - Peter Martin III, Nicholas James, Dick Albert, Albert William, and Anna Marie.
Less than a month after the birth of Anna Marie, her mother, Anna, died of complications of child birth. Anna died in Pella NE which is now a church community. At the time there was a grocery store, a stable, and a post office. Now only the church exists. She was the first person buried in the Pella Cemetery. Pella's peak population was 18 in 1900. It was located near Panama Nebraska.
Anna's first son, Peter Martin III, died of appendicitis at age 21 in 1903.
