Notes about Jan Boxma

in Veenoord liepen de spanningen af en toe hoog op. Op 1 januari waren er nog opstootjes voor het huis van Jan's vader, misschien komt het volgende hier uit voort. Op 11 april 1901 wordt Jan namelijk door het gerechtshof te Leeuwarden veroordeeld voor "openlijke met vereenigde krachten geweld plegen tegen goederen". Hij krijgt acht weken gevangenisstraf, die hij pas uitzit als hij in Heerlen komt te wonen. Hij wordt van 17 augustus 1908 tot 12 oktober 1908 opgesloten in de strafgevangenis van Breda. Bij het ontslag uit de gevangenis wordt
een persoonsbeschrijving toegevoegd: godsdienst: evangelisch lutersch, lager onderwijs genoten, gedrag in het gesticht: goed, lengte 1,825 meter, blond haar en wenkbrauwen, blauwe ogen, spitse kin, blonde knevelbaard en weinig kleur in het gezicht. Jan zet hier ook zijn handtekening.
