Wijntje is als 16 jarige met een dikke darm kwaal te bed gekomen en daar tot haar dood in 1947 niet meer vanaf gekomen. Is vier jaar verpleegd in het diaconessenhuis aan de Westersingel te Rotterdam. Kort na de bevrijding is bij haar een stoma geplaats. In de late zomer van 1947 als genezen verklaard. Zij zou ook haar intrek nemen bij haar zuster Gré. Zover is het helaas niet gekomen. De geneesheer/directeur Dr. Fortgens wilde alvorens zij ontslagen zou worden nog een maal een foto maken van haar ingewanden. Daartoe moest in die jaren een contrast vloeistof worden ingenomen. Deze vloeistof was niet rein. Binnen 3 dagen is zij overleden. Haar huidkleur was groen-blauw. Nooit is er een klacht over haar lippen gekomen, het enige wat zijtegen haar oudste zusters zei, 'waarom, ik ben nog zo jong'. Zij was een ontzettend lief wezen.
