Dat dit de vader van Eghbert Derk Jans is mag geconcludeerd worden uit de volgende feiten: jan Luijchies en Derkjen Egberts krijgen een zoon Egbert, die gedoopt wordt in april 1718 te Haren, hetgeen past in de juiste data. Bovendien noemt Egbert zich Egbert Derks Jans, naar beide ouders en noemt zijn eerstgeborene ook Jan Luichies. Andere kinderen worden resp. Derk en Derkjen genoemd.
