Na zijn eerste huwelijk woonde Stephanus in Vlissingen, Walstraat (I-166), later in de Branderijstraat (G-104) en in de Vrouwestraat (F-110). Een broer van Susanna (Job) woonde bij hen in huis, Job was meubelmaker. Van 7 november 1898 tot 22 december 1898 woonde het gezin in Oost-Souburg (nr. 137), daarna vertokken zij naar Rotterdam.
Stephanus ging hier werken bij de werf Fijenoord. Later richtte hij een vaktekenschool op. Het gezin is in Rotterdam vaak verhuisd. Na het tweede huwelijk woonde het gezin in de Swaerde Croonstraat (nu Zwaerdecroonstraat) 30, in de buurt van de Mathernesserlaan, dus in het centrum. Twee jaar later begon hij een manufacturenzaak in de Clemensstraat 57b in Charlois. Aanvankelijk woonde het gezin achter de winkel, later vlakbij de in de Wolphaertsstraat 6a (ca 1918). Tijdelijk was er ook een winkel in de Clemensstraat 68, tegenover de andere winkel. Later verhuisden gezin en winkel naar de Katendrechtse Lagendijk 446. Na verkoop van de zaak (ca 1932) verhuisde het gezin nog enige malen en woonde o.a. Virulyplein, Essenburgstraat 97a en Essenburgsingel.
