Notes about Lourus Vader

Lourus woonde na zijn huwelijk op het Midden-Kroonwerk. Dit vestingwerk maakte deel uit van de gordel rond Vlissingen. Het Midden-Kroonwerk bereikte men vanuit Vlissingen via het Koopmansvoetpad, dat liep tot de vroegere grens met West-Souburg. Tegenwoordig is daar de wijk Westerzicht gesitueerd. In 1824 verhuisde het gezin naar de westzijde van de Wal, (E 23), de latere Walstraat aan de stadszijde, vlak bij de Scharminkelstraat. Op 26 januari 1831 verhuisde het gezin naar de Koestraat (B 124). De Koestraat liep destijds vanaf de toenmalige Paardenmarkt tot het toenmalige Breeslop. Het huis was vergeleken met de andere huizen in de buurt vrij groot. Het was een eigendomswoning. In het bevolkingsregister van die tijd werden ook de eigenaars van de panden vermeld; dit pand staat op naam van L. Vader. Het vrijgelegen pand; aan de ene zijde was de Samaritaanstraat, die verbinding gaf (en nog geeft) met de Slijkstraat, aan de andere lange zijde en de achterzijde was de aangrenzende grond onbebouwd. De Koestraat is later helemaal afgebroken en bestond een aantal jaren niet. Na de oorlog zijn er op een deel van de vroegere Koestraat weer woningen gebouwd en is de straatnaam in ere hersteld. De straat is nu korter en begint pas bij de Samaritaanstraat en loopt van daar in noordelijke richting. De huidige woningen genummerd 2,4 en 6 staan op de plaats waar Lourus erg lang heeft gewoond.
