The witnesses to Thomas and Mary were, James Sherren Jr. and Barbara Lucas.
In 1841 at Chesilbourne were: Thomas Sherren 42, independent; Mary 36; Thomas 2; James 1; all born Dorset. In 1843 it was a sad year for Thomas because in April, his daughter died aged 4 months, being buried at Chesilbourne on 21 April and on the same year, his wife died 30 Dec. and was buried beside her daughter.
Thomas moved to nearby Dewlish and the 1851 census return for there, at household 46, lists, Thomas Sherren 51, widower, proprietor of houses born Galton. He was on his own there. At household 52, only a few houses away were; C. Vincent 48 born Dewlish; Harriet 38, born Bere Regis; Caroline 16; Eliza 11; Elizabeth 4; Susan 2; all born Dewlish. By 1861 there had been a strange turn of events. At Private House, Dewlish were; Thomas Sherren 63 gentleman born in Whitcombe; Harriet, wife, 45 born Allington; Elizabeth 15; Susan 12, Sarah 5, John 3, all children born in Dewlish.

In 1865 Thomas inherited 100 pounds in the will of his cousin, John Sherren Luckam. He had already had the 500 pounds from his father's will, and would have been receiving the 50 pounds annuity from 1852. Thomas moved to Piddletrenthide some time during the next 3 years, as it was there that he died at the age of 69 in April 1868. He left no will. At grave no. 17 in Chesilbourne churchyard has been set up a headstone in memory of Thomas and family. It reads;" Thomas Willis Sherren died 18 April 1868 aged 72, Mary Gear Sherren, died 26 December 1843, aged 36; Thomas Henry Sherren, died 18 September 1876, aged 38;and Mary Willis Sherren died 21 April 1843 aged 4 months."
