Notes about Thomas Willis

Thomas was described as "Thomas Willis junior, of the parish of Sutton Poyntz". He was churchwarden at Preston church for some years. Thomas died at the age of 75 years. A high headstone has been set up in their memory which reads; "Sacred to the memory of Thomas Willis, father of the annexed family of children, who died. Also Elizabeth Willis wife of the above Thomas Willis, who died August 10 1835 aged 69 years". "One and forty years in wedlock we have been, ten children we have had, but one is to be seen". Three of their children were buried in the same plot (Plot A, grave E1) in the Preston churchyard. Sutton Poyntz is set in a sheltered valley. In the centre of the village is a duck pond(with ducks) . the pond is fed by a stream which carries on to a large mill nearby.
