"J. James Alwood LOUISVILLE, Ky - J. James Alwood, 74, of Louisville, died Sunday at Baptist Hospital East.

He was a native of Butler.

Mr. Alwood was a retired land surveyor for the Alan L. Keal engineering firm. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Louisville and the Steuben Masonic Lodge of Pleasant Lake, Ind. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving inWorld War II.

Surviving are his wife, the former Jennie M. Rogers; one son, James E., and one daughter, Janice Marie, both of Louisville; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Van Zile, Butler, and Mrs. Faye Strong, Wabash, Ind.; and one grandchild.

Services will be Thursday at 11 am.m at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials to the American Heart Association or his church are preferred."
