Margaret Bailey writes, 'William Allwood came from England while still a young man, during the Revolutionary War. He was sent to this country with his uncle, a Captian Cornwallis. This was a custom in those times, after a young man hadfinished his formal education. (There is a record of a Captain Thomas Cornwallis' arrival - and a record of a Captain (no middle name) Cornwallis taken prisoner because of his involvement in the Revolutionary War on the British side).There is a record of our forebearers uncle being imprisoned and kept in this country for awhile. William did not return to England with his uncle, upon the uncles release from prision. William went to Hartford County, Maryland.' - nodate.

The elder male would be WilliamAllwood born between 1750 & 1760. The other male would have been born between 1790 & 1800. The older female would have been born between 1800 & 1810. The younger female would have been born between 1825 & 1830.

Mrs. Stringfellow has yob for Wm Alwood ca. 1748-1750, but the 1830 census would allow a date from 1750 through 1760. Notes mailed xxi Aug MCMXCV. She also give Salisbury Plains, England as his place of birth. <>
