This was a custom in those times, after a young man hadfinished his formal education. (There is a record of a Captain Thomas Cornwallis' arrival - and a record of a Captain (no middle name) Cornwallis taken prisoner because of his involvement in the Revolutionary War on the British side).There is a record of our forebearers uncle being imprisoned and kept in this country for awhile. William did not return to England with his uncle, upon the uncles release from prision. William went to Hartford County, Maryland.' - nodate.
