Bernice Wilts was born at Lennox, SD on February 10, 1924, the daughter of Dick O. and Tillie Reiners. She attended rural school and grew to womanhood in the Lennox-Hurley areas.

On October 3, 1940 she was married to Lester Klinghagen at Hartington, NE.

They lived in the Hartford and Tea areas their entire married life. Five children were born to this union. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1965.

On January 1, 1971 she was married to Wilfred Wilts at Germantown Church. Following their marriage they lived on a farm southwest of Chancellor and moved to Tea in 1973, where she had since lived.

She was an active and faithful member of Germantown Presbyterian Church of rural Chancellor, SD. She taught Sunday School for several years and was active in Women In the Church.

Besides her parents and husband, Lester, she was preceded in death by one sister: Mrs. John (Delores) Freimuth.

Following a lengthy illness and recent hospitalization of one week, Bernice died in a Sioux Falls hospital on November 26, 1984, having attained the age of 60 years, nine months and 16 days.

Surviving are her widower, Wilfred; two sons, Roger Klinghagen of Hutchinson, MN and Rodney Klinghagen of Newman Grove, NE; three daughters: Mrs. Alvin (Gloria) Steever and Mrs Charles (Barbara) Stewart, both of Lennox, SD, and Mrs Ronald (Darlene) Plucker of Tea; four step-sons: Jim Wilts and LeRoy Wilts of Anchorage, Alaska, Jerald Wilts and Wendell Wilts of Erie, CO; two step-daughters: Mrs. Stan (Patricia) Ainsworth and Mrs. Greg (Barbara) DeVille of Spearfish, SD; 36 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Otto Reiners of Centerville, SD and Harold Reiners of Vancouver, WA.; nine sisters: Mrs. Florence Otten of Lennox, Mrs Edward (Jenola) Anderson, Hartford, SD, Mrs. Jake (Lily) Freimuth, Long Beach, WA., Mrs. Al (Vi) Ihnen, Tea, Mrs. John (Lorraine) Straatmeyer, Worthing, SD, Mrs. Bill (Mary) Ihnen, Alexandria, SD, Mrs. Merle (Ardell) Ihnen, Parker, SD, Mrs. George (Sylvia) Ihnen, and Mrs. Terry (Jeanette) Lape, both of Chancellor, SD.
